There is an extended belief among Peruvian.peasants on the influence of images seen by a pregnant woman, on the fetus, The child is supposed to have behavioral problems due to the images seen by the mother (o monkey, a dog, a pig, and so forth). This is called "mipa". A sample of 300 women were studíed, in relation to their belief in the mipa, 180 peasant women and 120 urban middle class, with an average age of 25. A specíal questionnaíre was constructed to investigate the belief in the mipa. Significant differences were found between the two groups items; mipa is more a peasant´s belief than an urban belief.
