Learning from architectural education
El autor plantea una serie de preguntas fundamentales alrededor de la investigación sobre educación en arquitectura, o la ausencia de ella. Después de una introducción, desglosa las preguntas: ¿por qué investigar sobre educación en arquitectura? ¿Cómo estudiar la educación en arquitectura? ¿Qué se debe investigar? Comenta las falencias, oportunidades y riesgos de la educación en arquitectura y la investigación sobre ella, y concluye que la generación de conocimiento sobre la arquitectura y su educación ayudará a construir la arquitectura como disciplina, a la vez que la misma actividad de investigar lleva a un entendimiento más profundo de la arquitectura y del mundo.
The author puts forward a series of fundamental questions about (the lack of) research on architectural education. After an introduction, the author breaks down three main questions: Why to study architectural education? How to study architectural education? And, finally: What to study in architectural education? The text includes comments on fallacies, opportunities and risks of architectural education and research in the field. It concludes that generating knowledge about architecture and architectural education is paramount in the process of constructing architecture as a discipline. Moreover, it is argued that anyone who performs research on architectural education will subsequently develop a better understanding of both architecture and the world.
