You are applying for a post as a Web designer at “Bytes Plus”, a big firm of 2000 employees in Dublin. They need a resourceful, self-confident, hard-working and autonomous person. You have an interview today with Mr/Mrs MARTIN, the Staff Manager.
You use JavaScript to make your website more attractive. You would like to try telecommuting, i.e. working at home, using e-mail to communicate with clients. You want freedom, flexibility, and long holidays, which you don’t get by working in an office.
Applicant 2 : Mr/Mrs YOKOHOMA
You are applying for a post as a Computer Programmer at “Computers 3000”, a small firm of about 50 employees in Sydney. They need somebody who is goal-oriented, easy-going and patient. You have an interview today with Mr/Mrs BROWN, the Staff Manager.
You are interested in writing software. Your friends say you are a techno-nerd because you prefer working with computers to people. Money is important but you’d rather do a job you enjoy.
Applicant 3 : Mr/Mrs WASHINGTON
You are applying for a post as a Database Administrator at “Datamana”, a young firm in London. They need somebody who is goal-oriented, easy-going and patient. You have an interview today with Mr/Mrs ROSSI, the Staff Manager.
Many people like web design, but you think data management gives better job security. There is so much information on the internet, and companies need people who know how to store, manage and retrieve data. You want to work for a good company.
Applicant 4 : Mr/Mrs JOHNSON
You are applying for a post as an E-Commerce Manager at “E-Future”, a nice and young firm in Madrid. They need somebody who is risk-taking, hard-working and enterprising. You have an interview today with Mr/Mrs LOPEZ.
You like shopping and you think the future of business is on the internet. You’re good with computers but you also like working with people. You’d like to manage your own online company. This will give you a lot of responsibility. E-commerce comes with risks, but the rewards are high when you succeed.
