Secado de trigo por inmersión en un lecho particulado agitado de arcilla pilarizada de aluminio (Al-PILC)

Se secó trigo variedad Triticum durum por inmersión en lecho particulado agitado, utilizando arcilla natural, arcilla pilarizada de aluminio (Al-PILC), zeolita 13X y arena, a diferentes temperaturas iniciales del medio particulado y tiempos de contacto. Los resultados mostraron que la zeolita generó la mayor pérdida de humedad de grano respecto al tiempo, seguida por la Al-PILC, arcilla natural y finalmente la arena, siendo la capacidad de secado de la Al-PILC cercana a la de la zeolita. La Al-PILC transfirió del 85-94% del calor y evaporó del 83-93% de la humedad con respecto a aquellas obtenidas con zeolita. Los resultados también mostraron que la zeolita y la Al- PILC presentaron las mejores características de transferencia de calor y masa, por lo que la Al-PILC puede ser utilizada como alternativa a la zeolita en el secado de granos.

Wheat (Triticum durum) was dried by immersion in a particulate medium grain drier, using a natural clay, a pillared aluminium clay (Al-PILC), zeolite13X and sand, as particulate medium at different initial bed temperatures and residence time of the grain within the dryer. Results showed that zeolite caused the highest grain moisture loss with drying time, followed by Al-PILC, then the natural clay and finally the sand. The drying capacity of the Al-PILC was similar to that of the zeolite. The Al-PILC transferred 85-94% of the heat and evaporated 83-93% of moisture grain compared to that obtained by zeolite. Results also showed that the zeolite and the Al-PILC had the best heat and mass transfer properties of the four particulated materials used, and that the Al-PILC can be used as an alternative of the zeolite in immersion particulate medium grain drying.
