Fase no parasítica de Boophilus Microplus (Acari: Ixodidae) en condiciones ambientales y de laboratorio en Costa Rica

Con el objetivo de entender mejor la bioecología de la garrapata Boophillus microplus, durante su fase no parasítica, garrapatas susceptibles a organofosforados y piretroides, fueron evaluadas en condiciones de laboratorio y de campo. Las zonas donde fueron evaluadas fueron: la finca del Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje (INA), Alajuela, localizada en el bosque muy húmedo premontano; la Escuela Centroamericana de Ganadería (ECAG), Alajuela, localizada en el bosque húmedo premontano; y la finca donde se encuentra el Laboratorio de garrapatas (LPG), Heredia, del Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería de Costa Rica, en el bosque húmedo premontano. El laboratorio fue el de garrapatas (LPG). En el laboratorio, las garrapatas fueron colocadas en incubadoras con 95% de humedad relativa y 27,5 ±1ºC de temperatura. Los resultados mostraron que el tiempo entre la colocación y la oviposición varió entre localidades, siendo el laboratorio donde se observó el menor tiempo. Con respecto al tiempo entre oviposición y eclosión, todos los grupos mostraron diferencias entre ellos excepto entre la ECAG y el LPG.

Non-parasitic phase of Boophilus microplus (Acari: Ixodidae) in environmental and laboratory conditions in Costa Rica. With the objective of bringing in a better understanding about the bio-ecology of the Boophillus microplus tick during its non-parasitic phase, ticks of a strain susceptible to organophosphates and pyrethroids were evaluated under laboratory and field conditions. Results showed that time between ticks’s placement and oviposition varied among locations, being the laboratory conditions where the shortest time was observed. Regarding time between oviposition and eclosion, all groups showed differences between each other except between the ECAG and the TPL.
