NOTAS SOBRE LA NOVELA NEGRA CHILENA: SINTOMÁTICA DE UNA CRISIS LITERARIA A TRAVÉS DE DOS AUTORES REPRESENTATIVOS

La literatura chilena de las últimas dos décadas tiene la marca de un fenómeno: la novela negra ha penetrado el mundo editorial como nunca antes lo hizo ningún subgénero policial. Muchos de los últimos escritores han coqueteado con las estructuras y temas de la novela policial, han reconocido el poder de este tipo de narrativa y la utilidad de sus herramientas. Algunos de ellos se han convertido en escritores policiales habituales; pero, ninguno de ellos ha alcanzado el nivel literario para dar al género el estatus estético logrado en otras épocas y latitudes.

Chilean literature of the last two decades has the sign of a phenomenon. Hard boiled detective fiction has penetrated the editorial world as never before. Many of the latest writers have been flirting with the structures and themes of detective stories, they have recognized the power of this kind of narrative and the usefulness of its tools. Some of them have become habitual detective writers; but none of them has yet attained a sufficient literary quality to give the genre the aesthetic status it has achieved in other periods and latitudes.
