Abstract

In this article an overview is given of an emerging vision for education management development in South Africa. The draft documents for education management before the election in 1994 will be stated briefly, after which a more detailed discussion will follow of the events that led to the proposed Institute as formulated in the Report of the Task Team on Education Management Development in December 1996. This Report will be discussed in more detail. In conclusion, some information on the most recent developments, that is, since the beginning of 1997, will be given.
