En 1845 John L. Sullivan publicó en la Democratic Review un artículo sobre Texas. En este artículo defendía y justificaba el desmembramiento de México en el nombre del ?destino manifiesto?. El término creado por Sullivan y consagrado como línea política resume la idea providencialista que coloca al pueblo norteamericano como el pueblo elegido para ampliar el ?área de la libertad?. En el caso de Texas, se justifica que un grupo social se asiente en un territorio desocupado, organice su propio gobierno y solicite su anexión a la Unión Americana. Hemos elegido a cinco viajeros norteamericanos y otros tres británicos , que comparten la misma herencia cultural y opiniones acerca del pueblo norteamericano y su supremacía ética y económica. El orgullo del progreso material era un signo manifiesto del favor y la elección de Dios.
English abstract
On 1845, John L. Sullivan published on the Democratic Review an article about Texas. In this article defend and justified the dismemberment of Mexico in the name of the "manifest destiny". This sentence created by Sullivan and consecrated as the political line, resume the providencialist idea that erected American people in the elected people to extent the "area of freedom". In this case Texas served to justify that a social group settled no occupied land, organized its government and request to gather American Union. We choose five American travelers and another three Bristish, who gather the same cultural heritage and opinions about American people, economic-ethic supremacy. Pride on material progress, was a manifest sign of Gods choice.
